Srinivasa Ramanujan Biography: Srinivasa Ramanujan was an extraordinary Indian mathematician born on December 22, 1887, in Erode, Tamil Nadu, India. He grew up with a natural affinity for numbers and mathematics, displaying remarkable abilities from a young age despite receiving limited formal training in the subject.

Ramanujan’s passion for mathematics led him to conduct independent research, where he discovered various groundbreaking results in number theory, continued fractions, infinite series, and mathematical analysis. However, due to financial constraints and lack of formal education, his work initially went unnoticed in India.

In 1913, Ramanujan sent a letter with some of his mathematical findings to the renowned mathematician G.H. Hardy at the University of Cambridge. Impressed by the depth and originality of Ramanujan’s work, Hardy invited him to England in 1914, where Ramanujan collaborated with Hardy and others, making significant contributions to various areas of mathematics.

Despite facing health challenges and difficulties adjusting to the English climate and lifestyle, Ramanujan’s brief career was highly influential. In 1918, he became the first Indian to be elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in recognition of his exceptional contributions to mathematics.
