Bhagat Singh Biography: Bhagat Singh was an influential figure in India’s struggle for independence against British colonial rule. Born on September 28, 1907, in a Sikh family in Punjab, Bhagat Singh was deeply impacted by the Jallianwala Bagh massacre in 1919 and the prevailing political unrest.

He joined the National College in Lahore, where he came under the influence of revolutionary movements and ideologies. Singh became involved with various nationalist organizations, including the Hindustan Socialist Republican Association (HSRA), advocating for complete independence from British rule through revolutionary means.

One of the pivotal moments in Bhagat Singh’s life was the Lahore Conspiracy Case. In 1928, he and his associates plotted to avenge the death of Lala Lajpat Rai, who died protesting against the Simon Commission. They mistakenly identified J.P. Saunders as the officer responsible and assassinated him. Following this, Singh and his comrades threw leaflets proclaiming their intentions and took responsibility for the act. This event led to Singh becoming a prominent figure in the Indian independence movement.

In 1930, Bhagat Singh and Batukeshwar Dutt threw non-lethal bombs in the Central Legislative Assembly in Delhi to protest against oppressive laws and demand equal rights for Indians. They were subsequently arrested and tried for the bombing. During the trial, Singh used the court as a platform to express his revolutionary ideas, seeking to inspire the youth to fight against colonial oppression.

Despite numerous appeals for clemency, Bhagat Singh, along with Rajguru and Sukhdev, was sentenced to death. On March 23, 1931, they were executed in Lahore Central Jail, turning them into martyrs for the cause of India’s freedom.
