Swami Vivekananda Biography: Swami Vivekananda was a prominent Indian Hindu monk, philosopher, and spiritual leader who played a key role in introducing Indian philosophies of Vedanta and Yoga to the Western world. He was born on 12 January 1863, in Calcutta (now Kolkata), India, and his original name was Narendranath Datta.

Early Life: प्रारंभिक जीवन

Narendranath was born into an aristocratic Bengali family. His father, Vishwanath Datta, was a lawyer, and his mother, Bhuvaneshwari Devi, was a sincere housewife.

From a young age, Narendranath showed a deep interest in spirituality and was known for his sharp intellect.

After the passing of Ramakrishna in 1886, Narendranath took the monastic vows and assumed the name “Swami Vivekananda.”

Swami Vivekananda gained international recognition when he represented Hinduism at the World’s Parliament of Religions held in Chicago in 1893.

His opening words, “Sisters and brothers of America,” drew a standing ovation and made him a sensation in the Western world.

Although his physical life was short, Swami Vivekananda’s teachings continue to inspire millions worldwide.
