Ayodhya Ram Mandir

Ayodhya Ram Mandir: The Ram temple for which a long legal battle was fought for decades is now taking shape. The work of the first phase of the Virat Temple being built in Ayodhya is about to be completed. Lord Ramlala will be consecrated in the temple on January 22, 2024, after which the temple will be open to the people.

The chief guest of this program will be Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Earlier on 5 August 2020, the foundation stone of Ram temple was laid in Ayodhya, in which PM Modi also participated.

History

The Ayodhya Ram Mandir refers to the temple built at the site believed to be the birthplace of Lord Ram in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh, India. The construction of the temple has been a long-standing and contentious issue in Indian history, marked by legal battles and societal tensions between Hindu and Muslim communities.

In November 2019, the Supreme Court of India settled the dispute by granting the land to Hindus for the construction of a temple and also directed the government to allocate an alternative plot for the construction of a mosque in Ayodhya.

The groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of the Ram Temple took place in August 2020, and since then, the construction has been ongoing, aiming to create a grand temple dedicated to Lord Ram.
