Independence Day 2025
Independence Day 2025: India will celebrate its 79th Independence Day on 15 August 2025, remembering the time the country gained freedom from British rule in 1947. The event will begin with Prime Minister Narendra Modi hoisting the national flag at the Red Fort in Delhi. After that, he will speak to the people of the country. The ceremony will include a Guard of Honour, the singing of the National Anthem, a 21-gun salute, and flower showers from helicopters of the Indian Air Force.

In line with the Prime Minister’s aim to build a united nation, involving citizens will remain the main focus in 2025. Through platforms like MyGov and the NaMo App, PM Modi has called on people to share their ideas, themes, and suggestions for his speech at the Red Fort.
Indian Independence Act
The Indian Independence Act of 1947 was passed by the United Kingdom Parliament on 15th August 1947. This act transferred the power of the judiciary to the Indian Constituent Assembly. King George VI, who was the father of Queen Elizabeth II, remained the head of state until the country was fully transitioned to a republican constitution. India worked really hard to gain independence from British rule, and this movement was led by Mahatma Gandhi, who is now known as the ‘Father of the Nation.’
