Ministry of Finance deals with taxation, financial legislation, financial institutions, capital markets, center and state financing, and also the Union Budget. The sooner Finance Minister of independent India has been R. K. Shanmukham Chetty, who also presented the very first Budget.
The NDA government has changed the custom of presenting the Union Budget on the last working day of February. From 2016 onwards, the Union Budget is presented on the initial day of February so that it could be materialized before the start of the new fiscal year in April.
