Shardiya Navratri 2025: Shardiya Navratri will start on September 22 and end in 02 October 2025, with Vijayadashami. It occurs in lunar month Ashwin in Sharad Ritu. It is named Shardiya Navratri after Sharad Ritu. Every nine days of Navratri are devoted to nine incarnations of Goddess Shakti. Shardiya Navratri is during the month of September or October. The nine days celebration ends on the tenth day with Dussehra or Vijaya Dashami.

Every day of Navratri has been given a certain colour name. It is auspicious to add that specific colour in your life in the time of Navratri. The similar colour dress worn on the Navratri colour of the day is also trending among the women, particularly in Gujarat and Maharashtra, during Navratra. Therefore, women wear a particular colour dress every day of Navratri. Whether it’s going to work or participating in Dandiya and Garba, women are excited to wear specific colored dresses each day of Navratri.

History behind Celebrating Shardiya Navratri

The history of celebrating Navratri 2025 is short. The Hindu scriptures show that there are two versions of the history of celebrating Navratri. According to one of them, the demon king Mahishasura initiated a war with the Gods. The powers of Brahma, Vishnu, Shiva and other Gods united to form Shakti, which is referred to as Devi Durga. ‘

After a period of 9 days, goddess Durga Mata overpowered Mahishasura. On the 10th day, Vijaya Dashami, the day of victory over Mahishsura, the day of victory of good over evil is marked.

The other scripture narrates the tale of the Ramayana where Lord Ram supports dharma and slays the king of Lanka, Ravana. Lord Ram engaged in the battle against Ravana to release Devi Sita out of Lanka. During these nine days, Ram prayed to the Goddess Durga to get her blessings before commencing the battle.

Ram won in the fierce battle with Ravana on Vijayadasami day celebrated as Dussehra.

History of Lord Ganesh Birth

The story of how Ganesha was born is both strong and emotional. According to Hindu stories, Goddess Parvati made Ganesha out of turmeric paste and told him to watch over her while she took a bath. When Lord Shiva came back and was not allowed to enter, a fight happened.

Sadly, Shiva cut off Ganesha’s head, but when he saw how sad Parvati was, he brought Ganesha back to life using an elephant’s head. Shiva also gave him a special title, making him the first god to be worshipped and the one who removes obstacles from people’s lives. This story is written in the holy books, where Ganesha is called “Pratham Pujya” and “Vighnaharta.”

रक्षा बंधन का अर्थ है “सुरक्षा, दायित्व और देखभाल का बंधन”, और इस दिन, बहनें अपने भाई की कलाई पर राखी नामक एक धागा बाँधती हैं, जो सुरक्षा का प्रतीक है।
